    Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is among one of Rwenzori Mountain nearby attractions. It is located in south-western Uganda, close to Rwenzori Mountains, and is known as the home to the rare mountain gorillas. With a coverage area of 331km2 (128sqmi), the park is part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest situated along the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) border.

    Kibale Forest National Park – Rwenzori Mountain Nearby Attractions

    Kibale National Park is also located in western Uganda, protecting moist evergreen rain forest that is home to quite a number of primate species. Because of this the park is called the primate capital of the world. It is 766sqkm (296 sqmi) in size and is located between 1,100m (3,600 ft) to 1,600m (5,200 ft) in elevation.

    Kibale is home to a host of wildlife although it is mostly famous for its 13 species of primates which include chimpanzees closely tied with this extensive national park. The park protects a large block of rainforest that offers some excellent environment for bird watching. It harbors the greatest variety and concentration of primates found anywhere in East Africa.

    Queen Elizabeth National Park which is approximately 1,978sqkm (764sqmi) is one of Uganda’s oldest parks formed officially, along with Murchison Falls National Park in 1952. It is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination in the Western Region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri and listed as a world biosphere reserve.

    The park lies in the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountain alongside the flat terrain of the Great Western arm of the East African Rift Valley escarpments.

    Semuliki Wildlife Reserve and National Park

    Semuliki National Park is located in Bwamba County, a remote part of Bundibugyo District, in western Uganda. It was made a national park in October 1993 thus making it one of Uganda’s newest national parks.

    Semuliki National Park sprawls across the floor of the Semuliki Valley on the remote, western side of the Rwenzori Mountains. So, the park is dominated by the easternmost extension of the great Ituri Forest of the Congo Basin.
