    Kilembe trails

    This is the recent opened Kilembe trail that rises in the southern slopes of the Rwenzori Mountain from a trailhead at the Kilembe mines just near the town of Kasese. This route is along the Nyamwamba Valley, that goes through the glacier lakes and the spectacular view points before joining the central circuit at Lake Kitandara.

    The standard route also shows Mount Baker has got scenery that makes shorter treks. It was opened in June 2009 and is one of the best trails in Africa, linking Kilembe to various peaks on the Rwenzori Mountains.

    Mahoma Trail – One of Rwenzori Trekking Trails

    Ascending from Nyakalengija, Mahoma trail shall take you through the rainforests along Kyambogho ride where Mahoma offers you an opportunity to have scenic view of Mubuku valley and the Rwenzori Mountains. As you move, expect to see blue and colobus monkeys, some bird species like the Rwenzori Turaco, and the three-horned chameleon.

    Rwenzori Mountains Cultural Trail

    This a short hiking adventure where you explore Mountain Rwenzori National Park, culture of the people around the park and the famous river called River Mubuku.     Bulemba Ihandiro Cultural Trail

    This trail takes you to a great cultural value of Bakonzo people. It is also a home to several mammal species such as forest elephants, hyraxes and primates like black and white colobus monkeys and L’Hoest’s monkeys and many others. In addition, there are several bird species including the Rwenzori Turaco, the Rwenzori batis and the Archer’s Robin-chat among others.

    The Central Circuit Trail – Rwenzori Trekking Trails

    Among Rwenzori Trekking trails, this is so challenging, so a seven day climb will give you a rounded tour of the high Rwenzori. This trailhead is at Nyakalengija, 22km from Kasese off Fort Portal Road. Nyakalengija where the final arrangements take place.
